WOW is it easy to start, the pull cord has very little resistance, and it's SOOOO quiet!!! Honda did an absolutely amazing job with the muffler system, I have no idea how but it's truly the quietest generator BY far that I've ever heard.

Question by CoyoteStarfish: Need help with my portable generator - no power output?
I own a Chinese made diesel generator. 10HP, 5kW, which recently stopped putting out power.

The generator "head" has three separate power outputs; 120VAC (#1) 120VAC (#2) and 12VDC for battery charging. All three ceased output simultaneously.

I've tried "re-exciting" or "flashing" the alternator, which didn't do anything other than make it "knock" when it generated a magnetic field.

I've been told my voltage regulator may have failed, but I have no knowledge of how the AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) on the high-voltage side may work to verify.

Ideas? Thanks!

Some have safety fuses or circuit breakers to safeguard Voltage spikes. Check also for a switch which enables the generator once the deisel moter has been started.
